Vynagrip protects workers from oily floors
Engineering plant Howco Whitham was in need of a permanent flooring solution to keep floors safe while providing employees with a comfortable footing.
The problem
Howco Whitham is a heavy engineering plant in South Yorkshire, England, and one of the area’s leading steel stockholders.The company needed to find a permanent flooring solution due to the cutting fluids used in their engineering processes, which resulted in a large volume of oil, grease and grime ending up on the floor. This created a slip hazard near workbenches and machinery, and employees also voiced concerns about standing for prolonged periods of time on the hard surface. That meant they needed a factory floor mat that would not only help prevent accidents, but provide workers with a comfortable surface to walk on.

The solution
We worked closely with distributor Rubber Safety Hygiene Ltd to land on the best solution for Howco Whitham’s oily floors and heavy-duty environment. After trialling a number of options, Vynagrip was installed against and around the machinery, as well as along the full length of the steel processing lines.
Vynagrip is impervious to oils, acids and chemicals due to its non-porous PVC construction, which makes it ideal for factory environments with high volumes of production waste. Its open-grid construction allows for maximum drainage, while the diamond cut pattern delivers superior grip and slip resistance.
